Introducing the Reed Avocado, named after James Reed growing in San Diego County since 1948 a wonderful mid-summer treat you will look forward to each year. Reed avocados are large, round softball shaped, and beautifully green with a thick smooth skin and rich, creamy flesh. Their smooth, buttery texture offer the creamiest avocado I have ever tasted. I truly enjoyable avocados to eat fresh, whether you are slicing them for salads, spreading them on toast, scooping them into guacamole, or simply enjoying them with a little salt and lime. The thick shell-like skin of this variety makes it easy to scope out.

Unlike Hass avocados, Reed avocados do not turn dark when they ripen. Their skin stays green, so the best way to know when they are ready is by feel. When the avocado gives slightly under gentle pressure, it is ready to cut open and enjoy. Please also pop the stem off the bottom and insert a toothpick into the stem open all the way down to the seed. If the toothpick passes easily to the seed the avocado is ready to consume.

Because of their generous large size at ¾ of a pound each to 1.5 pounds each and creamy texture, Reed avocados are perfect for sharing, meal prep, or anyone who wants a little more avocado in every bite. Delicious! Unlike some of the avocados I've been getting at the store, these are full and have none of those brown things on the inside of the rind. Gloriously avocado-y! I ran across these Reeds several years ago at a roadside stand, and have been looking for them since then.

On August 6, I gave a 3 star review, I just want to follow that up with an Excellent 5 Star Customer Service, Joe sent me out a box of Reeds to replace the ones that weren’t ripening well. He let me know that it was early in the season and the something about the oil content makeup. Anyway, thank you Fallbrook and Joe for having great customer service and excellent Reed avocados! 🥑

I was extremely disappointed in these avocados. By the time they were getting softer, as per instructions, the ends were moldy. I tried to cut them and eat them and they were still hard and no taste. I had such high hopes for product from Fallbrook, CA. Donna Ingalls

I have ordered the Reed’s previously and those are really good. This batch that I received recently, I’m still waiting for them to ripen. I had to cut the tops off two or three of them because they started molding, but the body was still hard. It’s like half of it gets ripe and half of it stays hard.
